An explosion and subsequent fire at a natural gas well has closed the I-10 in both directions at the spillway until at least Sunday.

Alternate Routes

From Baton Rouge to Lafayette:

From I-10 West exit LA 415 North at mile post 151, take the US 190 West exit to I-49 South

Lafayette to Baton Rouge:

Travel I-49 North to US 190 East, exit 190 at LA 131 South (Lobdell Hwy) to I-10 East.

New Orleans to Lafayette (Bypassing Baton Rouge Traffic): Take the I-310 South to US 90 West heading towards Paradis. Take US 90 through Houma, Morgan City and New Iberia to I-10 in Lafayette.
