Two dead in St. Bernard crash
03:09 PM CST on Saturday, November 22, 2008
Two men were killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening in St. Bernard Parish, according to a statement from State Police.
State Police Troop B is investigating the double fatality on LA 46, near C Street, police said.
The crash occurred, according to State Police, when a Violet man, Donald Joseph, 49, crossed the centerline and hit an oncoming vehicle.
Joseph and the other driver, who has not been identified, were both killed in the accident, police said. Two passengers in the vehicle that Joseph struck, Omar Maldonado, 29, and Martin Barrientos-Guiterrez, 25, were taken to the hospital with severe injuries, police said.
Police don’t believe that speed is a factor in the crash, and driver impairment is unknown, but toxicology reports are pending, police said. Police also report that no one was wearing their seatbelts.
