BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU starting quarterback Jarrett Lee had to be helped off the field with an apparent right leg injury in the second quarter of the No. 18 Tigers' home finale against Mississippi.

Lee, backpedaling under pressure, lofted a 19-yard, first-down completion to Brandon LaFell just before being brought down hard by Ole Miss defensive tackle Jerry Peria.

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Peria landed on top of Lee and the quarterback's right leg appeared to fold awkwardly under him.

Lee was 4-of-12 for 49 yards and one interception -- his 16th of the season -- before his injury, which occurred while LSU trailed 21-3.

Lee was replaced by freshman Jordan Jefferson, who completed a 37-yard pass to LaFell in his first snap in relief, then completed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Toliver three plays later to make it 21-10 late in the first half.
