Sources tell Eyewitness News that a new Veteran’s Hospital and a new LSU teaching hospital will be built next to each other in a downtown medical corridor near Claiborne and Tulane Avenues.

The official announcement is expected to come Tuesday at a press briefing.

Both hospitals have proposed for some time that they be placed near each other in order to share services.

The LSU teaching hospital would replace the shuttered Charity Hospital.
