A man and woman are hospitalized in critical condition after police said the man shot his girlfriend and then himself around 1 a.m. in a New Orleans East neighborhood.

The incident occurred in the 5600 block of West Deer Park.

Police said they were responding to a call about a domestic disturbance and found the woman shot in the head. The boyfriend was found across the street. He had also been shot in the head.

Their identities had not been released as of early Wednesday morning.
