One person is dead and two are in critical condition after a barge collided with a crew boat south of the Intercoastal Waterway near Larose, according to the Coast Guard.

The accident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, according to the Coast Guard, as an aluminum work boat was working with a drill barge, when it left and struck an unlit barge. The Coast Guard reported the boat was up to speed when it struck the barge.
