La. lawmakers ask FEMA to forgive disaster loans

Louisiana's congressional delegation is asking FEMA to forgive disaster loans handed out after Hurricane Katrina.

The lawmakers sent a letter to FEMA administrator David Paulison asking for the cancellation by the end of the year.

They're worried that local governments, hospitals, and sheriff's departments might not be able to repay the loans.

FEMA paid our nearly $1.3 billion dollars in community disaster loans to Louisiana and Mississippi after the 2005 hurricanes.
