Coast Guard finds two missing Mississippi boaters
09:23 AM CST on Tuesday, December 30, 2008
EMPIRE, La. -- The Coast Guard has found the two men who went missing Monday in Plaquemines Parish. They were found later that day.
Officials said that 39-year-old Timothy Ragas and 56-year-old Joseph Parta had been stuck out of a cell phone service area and were unable to contact anyone on the water while they were missing. When they reached an area with service, one of the men called his wife, who then called the Coast Guard with a location. The Coast Guard then sent out a helicopter and found the men around 17 miles outside of Pass Christian.
The boaters were reported missing around 1 p.m. Monday and were found late that night.
The two men are safe at home, officials said, in Bay St. Louis., MS.
