Jim Haslett, the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams and former head coach of the New Orleans Saints, admitted to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in a story that has actually been published in the Charlotte Observer, that he was 'hard-headed' and made a mistake by not playing then-backup Jake Delhomme in 2002 as the Saints competed for a playoff spot.
Instead, Haslett opted to stay with an obviously-injured Aaron Brooks, drawing the ire of the fans and some questioning by the media.

Delhomme went on to become a starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, taking them to a Super Bowl, while Aaron Brooks struggled for a few more seasons before leaving the Saints, having an uneventful stint with the Raiders and then leaving the NFL.
