Al Copeland's Metairie home demolished

METAIRIE, La. - Al Copeland's Metairie home, where many from all across the metro area went each year to see his extravagant Christmas light display, was demolished Tuesday morning.

The Copeland family demolished the mansion on Folse Drive,  the home that synonymous with the man who created a chicken and restaurant empire, Al Copeland Sr.

Copeland, as most people know, died of cancer in 2008.

The homes doors, fixtures, appliances and other materials are being donated to Habitat for Humanity. The Copeland family is still deciding what to do with the property after the house is gone.
