Brennan's name removed from iconic building; new restaurant planned

NEW ORLEANS -- The name of the iconic Brennan's Restaurant on Royal Street in the French Quarter has now been removed.

A spokesman said the current owners of the building, restaurateur Ralph Brennan and Terry White, are working on a new restaurant concept.

The spokesman says they are refurbishing the interior to upgrade the plumbing and air conditioning among other things.

White and Brennan, who's a cousin of the people who operated Brennan's, bought the building at a sheriff's sale earlier this summer when it went into foreclosure.

The spokesman says it's not clear when the new restaurant will open.
