NEW ORLEANS - Two Louisiana natives now living in Texas got engaged during the Iris parade on Saturday.

Joel Edwards, originally from  Mer Rouge, proposed to Megan Keegan, originally from Destrehan, when they were visiting for Carnival.

Edwards currently lives in Austin and Keegan lives in Houston. Both moved for work.

The couple met at LSU and have been together for two years.

Edwards planned the proposal at the Intercontinental Hotel grandstands, where they were surrounded by friends and family.

His coworker, Laura Perez, rode on float 10 in Iris and dropped the sign when it reached the grandstands.
