NEW ORLEANS - A rescue dog in need of a home for a second time, has found a new owner.
Gracie, a healthy pit bull, was trapped in the 17th Street Canal over a year ago. Animal rescuers pulled the dog out and she was nursed back to health and adopted by Scott Hoppmeyer.
But, Hoppmeyer had to give Gracie up after an accident left him in a wheelchair.
Gracie’s new owner heard about her plight from WWL-TV and drove down from Des Moines, Iowa to adopt her.
Hoppmeyer was emotional during his last good-bye with Gracie.
“I was so happy, because I’ve been praying that she would find a home and someone to love her that she so much deserves.”
