BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -  Former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards is getting married sooner rather than later for a third time.

The former four term governor has been out of half way house confinement for nearly three weeks now and his soon to be third wife is excited about the prospects.

Trina Grimes Scott is a 32-year-old mother of two who has just signed on for the ride of her life. She is 83-year-old former governor Edwin Edwards fiancée. The two live in Gonzales and she said it wasn't love at first sight, but pretty close.

"So the first time I wrote was out of curiosity. I just wanted to see what all the hype was about," explained Trina.

The hype is Edwin Washington Edwards, the only 4 term Louisiana governor who paid an eight and a half year prison debt.

Trina said she became curious about Edwin after reading his book, "Edwin Edward: Governor of Louisiana." After a couple of letters she went to Oakdale to meet him.

"He was nothing like I expected him to be because he was warm and kind and very loving. I kind of expected him to be a little bit cocky, I guess. Or maybe even bitter and angry a little. But he wasn't," Trina said.

The two hit it off immediately. Her first meeting with Edwards lasted seven hours. Jokingly she said she doesn't remember much of the contents of that conversation.

With his release date coming up the duo began to make plans for life after Oakdale. They all moved to Gonzales, and Edwards moved into a family routine.

"Actually a lot better than I thought it would go. We have the boys here 24/7. I was worried about how that would work but everybody's getting along great," Trina added.

Despite a 51 year difference in their ages, Trina thinks the marriage will be just fine. So far she said the general public has been very patient.

"You know our relationship is very unusual and I thought there would be more people who had ugly negative things to say," said Trina.

When asked how much of her life had changed in the last three weeks, Trina replied, "I almost don't even recognize it. I don't even recognize it. Never in a million years would I have thought that this would have happened."

Trina is clearly excited although she wouldn't tell the exact wedding date. She said Edwin has intentionally lost 18 pounds since leaving Oakdale.
