I-10 westbound reopens after accident on spillway

KENNER, La. - Interstate-10 westbound reopened between Interstate-310 and Interstate-55 merge after a two-car accident on the spillway Friday morning.

One of the vehicles overturned on its side and became engulfed in flames near mile marker 217. All passengers were able to safely exit, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Although there were no major injuries, Emergency Medical Services was on the scene to treat possible minor injuries, LSP said.

The incident occurred around 5:50 a.m., and one lane reopened around 6:20 a.m. The interstate completely reopened around 7:30 a.m.
