Rett Syndrome is a neurological disorder that affects girls almost exclusively and is characterized by a normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development.
A patient with Rett Syndrome often loses use of their hands, has slow brain and head growth and can have problems with seizures and walking.
The International Rett Syndrome Foundation will be holding a conference in New Orleans this weekend.
