VACHERIE, La. -- St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin said he was the person who found the body of missing 12-year-old Talaija Dorsey.

Martin said Dorsey's death affected him personally.

"I had a personal, invested interest in solving this. Took this picture with me home every day, put it on my kitchen table and left it with me in the morning. My guys will tell you. I worked as many hours and days as they did. I was determined to bring this case to a close."

Martin said he was thankful the community came forward to help aid in the search.

"The whole community fell in love with Talaija, as well as the whole department. And we are not finished this job."
