NEW ORLEANS - Former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason announced that he had been diagnosed with ALS in 2011.
It's a terminal illness with no cure that leads to muscle degeneration.
On Twitter he said, "The realities of ALS...I just got a feeding tube...Life ain't easy but it's awesome."
He posted a video online of his hospital stay:
