Tulane University's Dr. Peter Scharf, a nationally-recognized leader in criminal justice, technology and education, spoke to Sally-Ann Roberts and Eric Paulsen about the Mother’s Day shooting.

“The absence of values, the absence of ability to anticipate consequences, the absence of empathy, the absence of propriety – Mother’s Day – it’s incredible,” Scharf said. “We’re paying the piper for a vegetative care of a subset of a subset of New Orleans. These kids are in groups. They’re armed.”

He added, “They don’t care who gets in the way.”
