Longtime government gadfly Sandra Hester was handcuffed and removed by police from a community budget meeting Monday evening.
After Hester began to speak at the meeting, some people in the crowd started booing. Mayor Mitch Landrieu said he would give her time to speak, but the situation quickly deteriorated.
Hester blamed racism for the city's problems and called the mayor and people at the meeting racists.Some people complained she was disturbing the meeting. Moments later police escorted her out, handcuffed her and put her in a police car.
