NEW ORLEANS -- While Crystal Hot Sauce definitely has a kick with its fiery taste, it's clear that heat isn't what separates it from the competition.

"We believe we sell flavor and not heat," said Al Baumer Jr, CEO of Baumer Foods. "And we were able to develop and maintain a distinct flavor to it, and that's what everybody likes about it."

That flavor has delighted Louisiana residents since the 1920s, helping it to become one of the biggest hot sauce brands in the country.

Voters chose it to be the best hot sauce in last year's Best of New Orleans Awards. (Click here to vote on this year's ballot!)

We visited the Baumer Foods facility in Reserve to find out how exactly the hot sauce is done.
