NEW ORLEANS -- It's a shop 'til you drop challenge, and it's all for a good cause.
Teams of local celebrities, including our own Sheba Turk and Alexandra Cranford, hit Academy Sports and Outdoors on Veterans for a shopping spree.
The teams competed to fill their carts the fastest with $1,000 worth of products, and our expert shoppers, Sheba and Alexandra, won the event.
The WWLTV team completed the shopping list with the help of local actor Nicoye Brand, AT&T volunteer manager Rob Debloi and Academy Sports & Outdoors associates. They completed their shopping in three minutes.
“I made it tough on WWL-TV for this year’s celebrity shopping event with a difficult list. Other teams had a former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker, retired NBA star, and more associates to do the heavy lifting," said local AT&T manager Sue Sperry. "But girl power prevailed, and Alexandra and Sheba took home the gold medals. Just goes to show that New Orleans’ news leader is the shopping leader to benefit a great cause.”
AT&T is a national sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club. All the goods are going to the Boys and Girls Club of New Orleans.
