ASSUMPTION, La. -- The massive sinkhole in Assumption Parish continues to grow.
According to state regulators, over the last 24 hours about 25 trees were swallowed up, and a new crack formed in an earthen well pad south of the site.
Officials with the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’s Office of Conservation say that the discovery has not halted work around the sinkhole and the area remains in emergency officials' lowest "alert" status.
There are 350 people still displaced from their homes because of the sinkhole that fist appeared in August.
