NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans police are searching for a gunman who shot a dog early Sunday morning in New Orleans East.

Flint is a Labrador retriever.

Veterinarians say the bullet shattered bones in his leg, and he will have to get it amputated.

The owners can't afford the $1,000 vet bill, so a local dog daycare, Zeus' Place, plans to pick up the tab.

The owners believe someone purposely shot their dog and hope whoever did it is caught.

“I was really hurt,” said the dog’s owner, Espy Cornin. “I really didn't know what to say because my wife was crying, she was screaming and crying and we were just really, really upset over it.”

Any contributions from the community are welcomed.

If you would like to find out more, call Zeus' Place at 304-4718.
