It was a virtual “Peyton Manning Day” at Newman School in New Orleans. The future of Newman school celebrated a past icon. The alma mater of New Orleans native Peyton Manning was filled with student cheering him on for a Super Bowl win.

Normally it's black and gold country in the city, but at Newman hundreds gathered at the gym wearing the Broncos blue and orange. Head football coach Nelson Stewart played football with Manning in high school says he was always a leader.

“Peyton is the best captain, best teammate you ever wanted to be around, and he was as hard on you as you think he would be, but he had the respect of everyone."

Manning faces one of his toughest challenges of the year on the biggest stage in football. A powerhouse Seattle defense versus an explosive Broncos offense makes this anyone's game.
Stewart says Manning’s career is just beginning to peak and the hometown hero should come out on top.

"It's a quarterback's league. He has been geared up for this and he has been ready,” Stewart said. “I think we can say it is his moment but he would say it is the Broncos moment."

All of the Manning siblings hold a record at Newman.Peyton still holds the single season passing record. His brother, Eli, is the all-time passing leader for the school. Cooper Manning holds the record for most yards by a wide receiver.
