NEW ORLEANS - It's been a long road for Rear Admiral Roy Nash.

But after 34 years of active duty, Nash retired as the commander of the 8th Coast Guard District.

On Thursday, Rear Admiral Kevin Cook relieved Nash of his duties during a ceremony at the National World War II Museum.

As district commander, Nash was in charge of more than 100 units with over 4,000 active duty and reserve members.
