Two days before the Federal trial in the massive Gulf oil spill was supposed to begin, BP and plaintiff's attorneys reached an agreement to settle the case.

The estimated $7.8 billion dollar settlement would compensate about 100,000 people along the Gulf Coast.

But there were issues not addressed in that settlement, like claims for the Federal government and several states, including Louisiana.

Eyewitness News legal analyst Chick Foret spoke with the morning news team to explain the settlement.
