NEW ORLEANS -- Officials are preparing to break ground on a new, $32 million juvenile justice complex in New Orleans.

The facility, which will be located in Gentilly, will have a juvenile jail, a juvenile court and offices for the assistant district attorneys and public defenders.

The new complex will replace the controversial Youth Study Center that was damaged in Hurricane Katrina. Complaints of unconstitutional conditions there led to a federal consent decree.

The new complex is supposed to be finished in the spring of next year.
