NEW ORLEANS - On Tuesday, the agriculture secretary is in New Orleans to talk about what we eat and why fresher is better.

Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan will celebrate the importance of small farmers in providing healthy food to people across America.

New Orleans participates through its network of farmers' markets and urban gardens.

Economic opportunities are being created for for farmers and ranchers in the United States.

Chef Paul Prudhomme will join Merrigan at the Hollygrove Market and Farm to demonstrate recipes that utilize fresh options.

The demonstration begins at 10 a.m.
