Cold But Dry, Parade Then The "S" Word?

Updated today at 1:04 PM

A cold front has moved east of Southeastern Louisiana, ushering in much colder air.  After highs at midnight around 60 degrees,  temperatures during the day on Tuesday have been struggling to reach only 50 under breaks of sunshine and gusty northerly winds.  The Saints parade Tuesday evening will remain dry, but will also stay cold. Temperatures will be falling through the 40s through the parade, but wind chills will be as low as the 30s at times.  Be sure to bundle up in your Saints gear!  Tuesday night's lows will be even colder, with mid 20s north of the lake, bringing a moderate to hard freeze, and 30s on the southshore, with a light freeze possible in spots.  Protect your plants overnight, especially north of the lake and away from the coastline.  Wednesday should be a quiet day, with cold temperatures between 45 and 50 and slowly increasing clouds.  A Gulf Low will set up to our southwest and begin moving our way Wednesday night, making for a perhaps interesting scenario later Thursday into Friday.  If enough cold air can stay put, rain will develop Thursday afternoon, likely mixed with sleet and snow on the Northshore, and perhaps starting as sleet in some neighborhoods on the Southshore, lasting through the first half of Friday.  In terms of travel, things could get messy well north of the Lake, from McComb to north of Baton Rouge with several inches of accumulation if snow becomes heavy enough.  Closer to Lake Pontchartrain on the northshore,  if snow becomes persistent enough in the mix, a light accumulation could occur, but mainly on the grass, while on the Southshore, temperatures should remain warm enough that anything that falls should not accumulate.
