WWLTV PinPoint Forecast Team
Invest 96-L is not yet a tropical depression or tropical storm, but it could become one in the next couple of days. Right now it is a disorganized system just north of the Virgin Islands, and it's expected to continue moving west-northwest today. This means it will interact with Hispaniola early this weekend, which may keep it from strenghtening in the short term. After that, it has a better chance of developing into a depression or tropical storm. Most computer models are turning the system to the north and then northeast early next work week, taking it east of Florida and the East Coast. A threat to the Gulf of Mexico is looking more unlikely at this time, but we will have to continue to watch it closely.
Elsewhere...the rest of the tropics are quiet.
