4 year old Nathaniel "Nate" Thompson, Junior Duke of Chronos in Thibodaux, sorts and prepares his beads and trinkets for his inaugural ride on Sunday. Nate's parents have loved Mardi Gras and have ridden in many parades for the past 20 years. He is ecstatic to follow in their footsteps. Nate and his Dad enjoy parades in the sun, wind, and rain. As a spectator, Nate picks up all the little orphan beads that others reject - a tradition started by his great-grandmother, who pointed out every single bead from her wheelchair until her very last parade.
