With some Cajun ingenuity - Residence of lower Lafitte along with Rick Templet (on the ground) build dams to hold back flood waters. With the help of Mayor Tim Kerner (on the phone), we were able to coordinate efforts to secure supplies and equipment needed to build structures to fill in gaps of our almost nonexistent levee protection. After 2 days of sandbag lines being built and washed out, we finally stopped the encroaching tides. Homes were saved! We need leeves! Our backs are breaking along with our hearts....but NOT our spirits.
