My dad is truly an inspiration. He was my mom's caregiver for many years while she was on dialysis and when she was diagnosed with liver failure. He then suffered another loss when his eldest daughter died suddenly due to a rare skin disease (similiar to flesh eating disease) less than 2 years after my mom's death. My dad overcame colon cancer and recently had surgery and is currently undergoing radiation for skin cancer. His surgery left a scar from behind his right ear all the way to his chest nipple. I would have never believed skin cancer could be so devastating if I had not experienced this through my brave dad firsthand. His pholosophy is, "It is what it is." Did I mention he is 78 years old and continues to rebuild and maintain his rental properties that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina? This is why my dad is an inspiration to me and the BEST DAD ever! This photo was taken in front of his property on Congress Street in New Orleans while hewas in the process of rebuilding it.
