Upon his third cast into Bayou St. John early Saturday morning, Allen Parks landed his first catch of the day, a small bass that put up a bigger fight than it's puny size. Seconds after releasing the small fry, the top water erupted along the shore, where a furry creature shot out of the water, followed by a large alligator leaping onto the shore. Allen immediately recognized the gator as the one he saw in the Bayou six weeks prior. What is odder, is that the furry creature he initially mistook for a nutria, was in fact an otter. Another otter surfaced, as the one on the shore barked and cried, seemingly to distract the gator. Allen swiftly pulled out his phone to record the event on video. As he approached, the otter bolted into the water, evading the gator leaving it longing for its prey.
I've video, but it freezes the iphone app and isn't downloading on the web. ??? This gator needs to go. It won't be long before it attacks some one's dog or child. WGNO has already done a story 6 weeks ago during Greek Fest. I've contacted LAWF and response has been slow. A little help please.
