LAWRENCE COTTON'S 86TH BIRTHDAY

Lawrence Cotton, one of New Orleans musical piano legends is celebrating his 86th birthday with a special party on Sunday2/10/13. A resident of Bellecastle Street all his life Lawrence was a member of the United States Army Air Corps, L-Squadron from 1946 - 1949. Throughout his musical career he recorded and toured with Eddie "GUITAR SLIM" Jones, Big Joe Turner, T. Bone Walker, Dave Bartholomew, Wallace Davenport, Edgar Blanchard & The Gondoliers, Danny White & The Cavaliers, New Orleans Trad Jazz legends, Danny Barker, Thomas Jefferson, Papa French, Alvin Alcorn and Teddy Riley's Jazz Masters. He just completed a 28 year, five nights a week engagement at the world famous Maison Bourbon night club on Bourbon St. The celebration known by many locals as Cotton Fest will be held in his honor on 2/10/13 at his residence with his traditional jazz band and special guests Zamapara Band, Deacon John Moore and Walter "Wolfman" Washington & The Roadmasters.
