Where do I begin to tell you about how strong my father is. For Many years my Father has went above and beyond to spoil each of his children putting his own needs and wants to the side to make sure that any cost his children was always happy doing what ever it took to make money to provide . Like owning his own restaurant, starting a janitorial service, he even worked Several years over the road until In 1998 My father was diagnosed with congested heart failure and also with cardiomyopathy Disease the doctors said that they had never seen a heart as Large as my fathers heart, it was the size of a 75 year old man and he was only 47. So in 1999 he was placed on the heart transplant list in new Orleans then in 2000 he had a pacemaker put into his heart and then 6 mos later a difibulator was also placed, which worked fine until 2005 when New Orleans was Hit By Hurricane Katrina my Family stayed behind 16 of us tried to ride out the storm as many New Orleans Families did. My fathers Heart Weaken, An even after being evacuated my father still tried hard to do help everyone, he took over the camp where we stayed at as a chief and cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for all of the victims of Hurricane Katrina who also lived in the same camp as we did, trying hard to not let his failing heart get in the way. He would stay up late hours trying to prepare the meal for the next day and he did all of this with a failing heart. Then On April 5, 2006 our worst fears were confronted his heart failed to function a heart pump was placed in his body to try and save his life ( a Heart Pump is a device to help a failing heart) the pump was the only thing keeping my father alive but also was failing to work. I watched as my fathers life started to deteriorate he was placed on the top of the heart transplant list in Arkansas where we was placed after Hurricane Katrina and the waiting begin. An just when we thought is was all over on April 28,2006 we got a phone called that said he was going into surgery they had found him a heart and he had his transplant. An my father has been going strong with his new heart for 4 years now. My father fought a hard fight and he won and the best thing about it all is that he stayed strong for us all, he never let us know that it bothered him he always smiled and never gave up hope He is without a doubt and without equal, the greatest man I have ever known. I cannot think of a single man of any age or background that can compare to him. He has been everything as a daddy that a Daughter could ever want or need and for this I LOVE MY DADDY! John H. Collins.
Strongest Dad in the World
