We would like to invite anyone and everyone who cares about the 11 lives that were lost, the coastal areas of Louisiana and all other coastal areas affected by the oil spill to come to Grand Isle and join hands and hearts in prayer. If you can not be in Grand Isle with us we invite you to be with us in spirit. Stand outside at 10am on July 11, 2010 with your neighbors, friends, loved ones, or even strangers, bow your head and say a little prayer or observe a few moments of silence. Take a picture and send it to us to show your support. If you can make it to the Grand Isle beach, our hope is that we can get enough people to hold hands along our 7 1/2 mile beach levee. Father Mike (priest of Grand Isle Catholic Church) will lead us in prayer then a horn will sound 11 times to signify the 11 souls that were lost in the explosion of the rig. Then we will toss seashells or small stones toward the surf with... prayers, wishes, hopes, dreams, things you might miss, or anything you would like painted on them (PLEASE NO VULGARITY! KEEP IN MIND THAT IF THE SHELLS & STONES ARE TOSSED BEYOND THE BOOM THEY WILL PROBABLY HAVE OIL ON THEM & WILL BE THROWN AWAY). If you can we would like to ask that you wear a white t-shirt with the words ..." Holding onto our Cajun Coast" on the front and ... "with Hearts & Hands! Grand Isle, LA" on the back. Leave us a message and let us know what you think? We would like this page to focus on positivity, please. Let us know how many will be attending. Thanks to All & hope to see you there!
