NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Fire Department is looking into a late-night fire in New Orleans East.
The fire started shortly before 10 p.m. Monday night at the Hidden Oaks apartments near Martin Drive and Morrison Road, firefighters say.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:43 p.m. and the fire was under control by 10:24 p.m.
According to NOFD, the fire started on the second floor of building C and spread to the third floor. One apartment had fire damage, while two other apartments had smoke and water damage.
Firefighters kicked in doors to make sure no one was in the complex. One tenant whose apartment was on the opposite side of the fire fell and hurt her leg while trying to get out of her apartment. EMS transported her to the hospital.
Two people who were in the apartment where the fire started were able to get out safely.
Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
