NEW ORLEANS — A woman was shot multiple times and killed and a man was shot in his back in a double shooting in St. Claude Friday night, NOPD reports show.
Police first reported the fatal shooting on Friday around 7:45 p.m.
According to officials, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3500 block of N. Prieur Street at the intersection of Congress Street, in the St. Claude neighborhood at 7:00 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a woman shot multiple times and a man who had been shot once in the back, NOPD reports show.
Both were rushed to the hospital by EMS, where the woman died shortly after.
The Orleans Parish Coroner identified the victim as 17-year-old Tyneisha Muse.
The NOPD is investigating the incident, which happened in its Fifth District, as a homicide after initially investigating it as an aggravated battery by shooting.
A suspect or potential motive in the shooting has not been named at this time.
