ALEXANDRIA, La. — A sheriff's office in Louisiana has announced two arrests in a decades-old cold case.

The Alexandria Town Talk reports 64-year-old Leo Laird and 54-year-old Gary Haymon have been charged in the death of 18-year-old Donna Gayle Brazzell.

A Facebook post Monday from the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office says skeletal remains were found in the Gardner area on Nov. 5, 1980. Brazzell was identified as the victim last month through DNA testing.

Haymon and Laird were named as suspects in 2014. Both are now charged with first-degree murder, first-degree rape and aggravated kidnapping.

Laird was arrested Wednesday. Haymon is already serving a 49-year prison sentence but is expected to be booked for the new charges.

It's unclear whether Haymon or Laird had attorneys who could speak on their behalf.
