OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) — A 28-year-old Louisiana man is accused of stabbing his mother to death.
St. Landry Parish sheriff's deputies say Cody James Arceneaux, of Opelousas, was arrested Tuesday in the death of his mother, Vickie Granger.
KATC-TV reports deputies found Arceneaux curled up on the floor of their home, with his hands in a bloody towel. The sheriff's office says a large kitchen knife and Granger's body were in the kitchen.
Deputies say he initially told them his mother tried to stab him first. According to the sheriff's office, he later told deputies he stabbed her after she cut him unintentionally, by grabbing a knife he was holding during an argument.
Arceneaux faces a second-degree murder charge. It's unknown if he has an attorney.
