A Louisiana State Police trooper discovered approximately 7,500 dosage units of Ecstasy following a traffic stop Thursday morning on Interstate 20.
Two Texas residents, the driver and a passenger, are in custody at Ouachita Correctional Center on multiple drug charges.
The arresting trooper reported a white Kia was traveling eastbound between the Pecanland Mall and Millhaven exits with an "extremely dirty" license plate. A traffic stop was initiated after the vehicle allegedly hit the fog line before drifting back to the center stripe.
The driver was identified as Broderick Jack, age 43, of Houston. The report states Jack was extremely nervous while speaking to the trooper, and his travel plans did not make sense. Jack shook while he spoke and would not make eye contact.
A search of the cargo area of the vehicle revealed 7,500 dosage units of Ecstasy in a Crown Apple box.
A passenger, Crystal Bridges, age 42, Houston, is accused of crushing two bags of Ecstasy pills inside the patrol unit. She was removed from the unit and searched a second time.
A small bag of suspected marijuana and two marijuana blunts were then found in her bra according to the report.
Jack is facing charges of improper lane use, operating a vehicle while license is suspended, attempt and conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled dangerous substance. Bail was set at $135,400.
Bridges was booked on charges of obstruction of justice, attempt and conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled dangerous substance and first offense possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance. Bail was set at $127,750.
