Man found shot to death on Gretna canal bank, JPSO says

The victim was found within the city limits of Gretna, but investigators believe the shooting happened in an unincorporated area of the parish.

GRETNA, La. — JPSO investigators are leading the investigation into a man found shot to death in Gretna Saturday morning.

The victim was located on the bank of a canal near the 1100 block of Tallow Tree Drive in Gretna around 10:30 a.m.

Deputies found the unidentified male victim dead from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was found within the city limits of Gretna, but investigators believe the shooting happened in an unincorporated area of the parish. Because the shooting likely took place outside city limits, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation instead of Gretna police.

Authorities have asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the JPSO Homicide Section at 504-364-5300 or contact Crimestoppers.
