Arrest made after deadly French Quarter stabbing

New Orleans Police say 26-year-old Morgan Rothe-Skinner was booked on one count of second-degree murder Thursday.

NEW ORLEANS — Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a deadly stabbing in the French Quarter Wednesday night.

New Orleans Police say 26-year-old Morgan Rothe-Skinner was booked on one count of second-degree murder Thursday.

Police were called about a possible hostage situation around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Burgundy Street. When officers arrived at the scene, officers made contact with the reporting person outside of the home, who stated that a male relative was possibly barricaded inside the home.

The man barricaded inside was identified as Rothe-Skinner. He later surrendered and officers found another man stabbed inside. That man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement provided by a university spokesperson indicates that Roth-Skinner is a part-time student at Tulane University.
