NEW ORLEANS — Police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured in New Orleans East Tuesday. 

According to NOPD officials, officers responded to the 9000 block of Hayne Boulevard in the Little Woods neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, in their Seventh District. 

There, a block away from Lake Pontchartrain, they found a man who had apparently been shot in the leg. The police called the incident an aggravated battery by shooting. 

The status of the victim is currently unlisted. Police initially reported the shooting around 1:40 p.m.

The New Orleans East shooting follows four different gun-related crimes in that area over the weekend, all of which are under active NOPD investigation.
