BRIDGE CITY, La. — Authorities have arrested five juveniles and are searching for one who is still on the run after escaping overnight from the Bridge City Center for Youth, a secure correctional facility for underaged offenders.
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice said the six youth escaped around midnight from the facility located in Bridge City, La. During the escape, one staff member was hurt and was later treated and released from a local hospital.
Investigators said four of the escapees were taken into custody in Lafayette Parish around 9 a.m. Another escapee was caught in Jefferson Parish at around 4:30 p.m.
The remaining escapee is identified as a 17-year-old from the New Orleans area. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement or the BCCY at 225-328-0334 or 225-328-8402.
