NEW ORLEANS – Investigators say two burned bodies were found in a wooded area of Algiers overnight.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, firefighters were called to a brush fire near Maumus Avenue and Bennett Street around 11:35 p.m. Sunday. After extinguishing the fire, investigators found the charred remains of two people.
Investigators say both bodies were burned beyond recognition and showed evidence of foul play. The NOPD is now investigating the deaths as homicides.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victims' names at a later time.
