NEW ORLEANS — Louisiana will enter Phase Two of reopening at the end of this week, allowing bars to reopen at reduced capacity and loosening restrictions on a number of businesses.
Gov. John Bel Edwards made the announcement Monday, saying that the new rules will take effect on June 5 and run for three weeks.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said that Orleans Parish will not follow suit and will continue to operate under Phase One restrictions.
In the Second Phase of reopening, restaurants, retailers and other businesses that reopened under Phase One can now operate at 50% capacity.
Bars can operate at 25% capacity and casinos at 50% with 75% of their games open if they get a plan approved by the Gaming Control Board. Pool halls, bowling alleys, pools, spas and tattoo parlors can also reopen for the first time since the Stay at Home Order was issued in March.
Businesses will still be asked to perform temperature checks on customers and require face masks on their employees. Social distancing guidelines should still be followed as well.
