SUMMERFIELD, NC -- Johnny Van Kemp was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was just 7 years old.
Four years ago, WFMY News 2 covered his journey through cancer, and this past September he was officially declared cancer free.
This past week, Van Kemp and his family found out that the cancer is back, and they're crushed.
When he found out he was cancer-free his family threw him a huge party with 300 close friends, and even celebrities like singers and ball players sent him videos congratulating him.
WFMY News 2 has been following Johnny for the last four years and was ecstatic when we found out he was starting to have a normal life as an 11-year-old boy.
He was going to school and getting stronger, but now he thinks that he might not make it.
But through the tough times he has found courage, and he is determined to fight cancer once again. Starting Tuesday, he will begin 29 days of intense treatment at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Doctors told the family he has a 70-80% chance of remission.
And through all the pain and heartbreak his only wish is for prayers and support from the community.
